Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College men's lacrosse team had four players named to the 2003 MAAC All-Academic Team, it was announced this evening. To be eligible, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve, and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Junior Jay Nahama (Hampton, NJ), along with sophomores Billy Dziedzic (Southington, CT), James Taylor (Northport, NY), and Pat Van Horne (Liverpool, NY) were named to the squad for the Red Foxes.
Nahama, a midfielder majoring in Psychology, was named to the All-Academic team for the second time. He finished the season tied for seventh on the team in points with 11, on four goals and seven assists.
Dziedzic, who is majoring in Business, anchored the Red Fox defense with a team-high 87 ground balls to go with his two assists on the year. His 6.2 ground balls per game currently ranks him tenth in the nation.
Taylor, who is also majoring in Business, collected 20 ground balls and dished out two assists while playing in all 15 games as a defender for Marist.
Rounding out the selections for the Red Foxes is Van Horne, who is majoring in Business. As an attackman this season, he finished tied for seventh on the team in points with 11, on seven goals and four assists.
The Red Foxes finished the season at 3-12, with a 3-5 record in MAAC play, which placed them seventh in the conference.
