Women's Tennis Has Tough Day at Bucknell Tournament

Lewisburg, PA-The Marist College women's tennis team had a tough day during the opening round of competition at the Bucknell Tournament, losing seven of eight singles matches.

Junior Diana Perachio (Newtown, CT/Newtown) notched the only singles win by defeating Iida Hokkanen of Bloomsburg State, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles action, the duo of Yana Tikhonko (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) and Yana Krugly (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Academy) advanced to the second round defeating Becky Emmers and Hayley Hughes of Pittsburgh, 8-4, in Flight B action. In Flight A, Perachio and freshman Megan Gureck (Port Jefferson Station/St. John the Baptist) dropped a close match to Loyola's Katie Riedinger and Jackie Hughes, 8-6. Other matches were postponed until tomorrow.

The Red Foxes are back in action tomorrow, September 21st for the final day of the Bucknell Tournament.
