POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist freshman running back Obozua Ehikioya (West Hempstead, N.Y.) garnered his third honor this week when the ECAC (Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference) named him its Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Ehikioya was named the MAAC's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday and was tabbed National Player of the Week by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette Tuesday.
Ehikioya's accolades came on the heels of a 246-yard, four touchdown performance in a 41-35 win Saturday at MAAC foe La Salle. That yardage total was good enough for fourth in the school's single-game records, while the scores tied a Marist record.
By virtue of Saturday's victory, the Red Foxes will travel to Duquesne Saturday for a chance to capture the program's first league title since 1994. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
Since its foundation 66 years ago, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has emerged as the nationwide leader in service. The ECAC will administer 111 championships in 35 men's and women's sports for over 125,000 student-athletes and the officiating bureaus will assign more than 40,000 officials in 15 different sports. The Conference has grown significantly from 58 charter members to today having 323 member institutions in Divisions I, II and III, ranging in location from Maine to North Carolina.
