Hey guys...it's getting close, the season is almost done! Just one more journal left after this one. I know you're all sad and depressed but hopefully they will be good enough to last you `til next year when someone else takes over. I mean, I know they'll never match me, the original Gillespie Gab, but give them a chance.
So this week we had two more away games, Manhattan and Wagner. For the Manhattan trip, we decided to take a bus. This was good because I didn't really want to be the one giving directions down there in the Bronx, but bad because I have serious paranoia about those huge buses taking things out. It got a little scary in a school zone when we were passing all these Lexus' and BMW's full of parents waiting to pick up their kids...only minor hyperventilation.
Once we got to Manhattan (super early) we were downstairs hanging out in the locker room when some random guy came in yelling that we had to get out cause he needed to do something in there. So we're all, "Go talk to our coach," so he does, and she comes down and we have to leave...huge ordeal. Anyway, so now back in the locker room, still waiting to play, we decided to divi-up secret santas. So, we write up all the names and pick them from Piegaro's coat pocket and start making plans (for everyone who thinks this isn't funny, just laugh because it is an inside joke with the team and it really was funny, but the girls would kill me if I told).
Okay, so we won a game and finally pulled ourselves out of a terrible, nasty, disgusting losing drought...two words: "about time." So now it's Monday (yes, this Monday, as in two days ago) and we're heading down to Wagner for our last away game of the season. So it's my last away game ever...no more free food for me after the games (tear), but not only my last time for free food, but also my last time to sit shotgun in Coach's Country Van. Since I sit shotgun, I am the official map/directions leader, so I get to stay awake and help coach when everyone else is sleeping; but I also get the best view in the house so its worth it. Anyway, so since this was my last trip I realized that someone was going to have to take my spot next year. I decided that I would hold interviews for the position and that the best reader of Map Quest will be selected the winner...to be continued next year.
Before we took off , we had a minor delay. We were scheduled to load the vans and take off at 12:30...yes our game wasn't till 6 and yes it was at Wagner only two hours away, but Coach wanted to get there early to have a little practice before the game. This was actually fine cause not only did we get to play against some competition that night, but we also got to work on our secret santa's again too. But anyway, back to the delay. So while everyone was sitting in the vans, waiting to roll out, all four of the junior girls, who live together, somehow got the times mixed up and thought we were leaving at 1:30 instead of 12:30. So we had to wait, and wait, and wait...well it really wasn't that long but I like to make them feel bad.
Once we arrived at Wagner, and started to warm up one of the best songs ever came on...yes that's right Lynard Skynard's Sweet Home Alabama. Things got a little rowdy in our passing line, Meghan tackled me once but I recovered shortly after, and by game time we were pumped enough to pull out another win.
In other news, today the heat in my house finally came on and I was finally able to take off one of my layers of clothes and feel my toes too. My fan decided to start making an obnoxious squeaking sound a week or so ago, which is very unfortunate because it had previously created a sound essential to my sleep. So, after my housemate got tired of me stealing hers, and my WD40 didn't do the trick, I broke down and bought the loudest, cheapest humidifier I could find. And I've been sleeping like a baby every since.
Last but not least, I want to invite everyone to come and watch our last two games of the season, my last two ever. This Friday, November 12 and Saturday, November 13. My parents and brother will be there, and I'll even let you meet them so you understand just where this Gillespie Gab writer comes from. They might be funnier than me, but I agree with you in saying that it's doubtful. Also, I'll be signing autographs after the game, so bring a copy of my Cindy Crawford picture from the website and be sure to get one...it'll be worth money someday. And for all those parents out there dying to talk to me, feel free to e-mail me at lilgill_18@hotmail.com, and as mentioned earlier I'll respond to either Amy or Cindy.
