Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College softball team was shut out 4-0 this afternoon by visiting Army, in a non-conference contest play on the Gartland Athletic Field. The Red Foxes fall to 9-31 on the year, while the Black Knights improve to 22-17.

Leigh Harrell and Ashlie Christian combined to three-hit the Red Foxes on the day. Harrell (13-9) earned the win, pitching 5.0 scoreless innings in her start. She allowed three hits, without walking a batter. Christian pitched two hitless innings in relief, fanning one in her appearance.

Army received all the offense it would need with two outs in the first inning, when Lindsey Gerheim hit a Danielle Blake (2-11) pitch over the right centerfield fence for a 1-0 lead. Blake tossed just the one inning, allowing two hits, before academic commitments necessitated her removal from the game.

Liz Moyer pitched 5.0 innings, giving up eight hits and three runs, two earned, fanning three Army batters. Army hit around in the fourth inning, but only scored the three runs, stranding three runners. Lindsay Ward pitched the seventh inning for the Red Foxes, fanning one and not giving up a hit.

Nicole Sciacca had two of the Marist hits, while Barbara Leasure collected the only other base hit for Marist. Both teams committed two errors in the contest.

The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, traveling to Loudonville, NY to take on Siena in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) double-header slated for a 1:00 pm start.
