Nicol Named Assistant Coach For Men's Lacrosse

Sept. 19, 2004

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray has named John Nicol as an assistant coach for the 2004-05 season. Nicol comes to Marist from Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.) where he served in a similar capacity.

Prior to his stint at Pace, Nicol spent 14 years at Yorktown High School where he was head coach for four seasons (1998-2002). During that time, he was Section One Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 1998 and North County News Boys High School Coach of the Year in 1999. He won 14 Section One Championships, 12 New York State Regional Championships and five New York State Championships.

"John brings with him a wealth of experience and has had a successful track record at all levels," said Copelan. "We look forward to his leadership and are confident that he will be a tremendous asset to our program."

Marist will open its season February 26th at home against Lehigh (1:00 p.m.).
