New York, N.Y. - Competing in the last indoor track meet of his career, senior Clayton Berry tossed a personal-best distance in the shot put to highlight performances for the Marist men's track team at the NYU Fastrack Invitational today at the Armory Track and Field Center. Berry hoisted a throw of 13.59 meters (44 feet, 8 inches), bettering his previous best of 13.52 meters set earlier this season.
Sophomore Bryan Quinn tuned up for next week's IC4A Championships with a strong showing in the 1,000-meter run. Quinn placed sixth in 2:30.13, narrowly missing the IC4A standard (2:29.95). He becomes the second fastest individual in school history in the event, trailing only school record holder Chris McCloskey. Quinn will lead off the Marist distance medley relay next week at the IC4A meet in Boston.
Sophomore Brian DeMarco anchored the 1,600-meter relay with a personal-best split time of 49.0 seconds. DeMarco will be running the 400-meter leg of the IC4A relay next week. In the 3,200-meter relay, freshman Bryan Dixon ran a split time of 1:59.1 and led the team to a fourth-place finish. Sophomore Mark Fernandez ran to a personal-best time in the mile run with a time of 4:25.42.
The Red Foxes conclude the indoor season Saturday at the IC4A Championships at Boston University.
