Box Score

Bronx, N.Y. - The Marist softball team (0-5) could not hold an early 1-0 lead and fell to host Fordham tonight by the score of 6-2. Sophomore LF Christine Jakobsen drove in her first run of the year for the Red Foxes.

With two out in the top of the second, DH Bridget Hurlman doubled to right center off Fordham starter Sara Kinney. Jakobsen followed with a single to right to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.

Down 4-1 after five innings, Marist rallied in the sixth for a run when it loaded the bases with one out. Hurlman then drew her team-leading third walk to plate CF Allison Bartley. The Rams (5-6) would add two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning on 2B Trish Arno's two-run double.

Freshman Megan Rigos went the distance for the Red Foxes, scattering seven hits while striking out three.

The Red Foxes are back in action at the Wolfpack Challenge in Raleigh, N.C. later this week. On Friday, Marist will face St. John's at 11 a.m. and Ohio University at 5 p.m.
