Villanova, Pa. - The Marist water polo team (11-16, 3-3 MAAC) split a pair of league matches today at Villanova, falling 10-5 to Wagner before picking up a 9-4 win over St. Francis (N.Y.). Freshman driver Allison Rader had two goals and an assist in each match.
In the opening loss to the Seahawks, sophomore Katie Swanson had two goals to tie Rader's output while classmate Mary Grisey added a goal and an assist. Senior co-captain Susan Grant had an assist. In goal, freshmen Elizabeth Davis and Katy Zweifel had nine saves and two steals apiece in the first and second halves, respectively.
Rader, Grisey and freshman Callie Andrysiak each pumped in two goals to lead the Red Foxes past the Terriers 9-4. Swanson scored a goal and had two assists. Seniors Carolyn Rosler and Kerin Sovern had goals while sophomore Jillian Jefferds and junior co-captain Amanda Long had assists. Davis made five saves and Zweifel recorded four.
Marist competes in two MAAC matches next Saturday at Wagner. The Red Foxes will face Siena at 1 p.m. and Villanova at 5:30 p.m.
