JERSEY CITY, N.J.-The second-seeded Marist men's tennis squad shut out third-seeded Fairfield by a score of 4-0 in the MAAC semifinals Saturday at the Yanitelli Center on the campus of St. Peter's College. The tournament was moved to Jersey City due to inclement weather in Flushing, N.Y., the site of Sunday's championship match against defending champion Manhattan at 2 p.m.
The Red Foxes (16-3) started the match by winning the doubles point once again when the No. 1 team of Leonardo Rodriguez and Mark Santucci defeated the Stags' Steve Kouri and Kevin Nyarady 8-5, while the No. 2 team of Pedro Genovese and Frank Algier topped Fairfield's Jonathan Fernando and Zach Morrison 8-4.
In singles, Genovese, Rodriguez and Ray Josephs all recorded wins to clinch the match.
