Fernandez, Rolek Run Personal Bests at Larry Ellis Invitational

Princeton, N.J. - Sophomore Mark Fernandez and freshman Mike Rolek both ran to personal-best times Friday night in the 5000 meters at the Larry Ellis Invitational, held at Princeton University.

Fernandez placed 23rd overall in 15:26.19. This time was 21 seconds faster than his time in the same event at Princeton two weeks earlier. Rolek was 25th in 15:31.79. This was a 17-second improvement over his best time in this event. Two weeks ago at Princeton, Rolek qualified for the U.S. Junior Championships in the 10,000-meter run. Fernandez qualified in the same event in 2004.

Also Friday, sophomore Mike Bamberger was 10th overall in the elite 800-meter run in 1:54.25.

The men's track team has a busy week of meets, with Penn Relays on Thursday and Friday and the Yale Invitational on Sunday.
