Lawrenceville, NJ: The Marist women employed a true team effort to capture third place in the MAAC Track and Field Championships hosted by Rider University. Sophomores Kerri Mannino (Amityville, NY) and Christine Wahl (Lancaster, NY) ran to convincing victories in the 10,000 and 800 meters respectively.

Mannino's 39:15.08 clocking was 57 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the 10K. Wahl won her third consecutive 800 Championship by nearly two seconds in 2:17.58. The star of the meet, however, was freshman Jen McNamara (North Attleboro, MA) who scored in five events: Long Jump, 4x100, 100 Hurdles, 100 and 200. McNamara narrowly missed second in the hurdles placing third by .02.

Freshman Laura Reilly (Pearl River, NY) placed fourth in the 3K Steeplechase, freshman Kendall Bunzey (Berne, NY) jumped to a fifth place personal record in the Triple Jump and sophomore Sarah Domermuth (Voorheesville, NY) raced to a 4:51.16 second place in the 1,500. Sophomore Lindsay Rappleyea (Gloversvillle, NY), freshman Kathryn Bernarde (Latham, NY) and Colleen Ryan (Poughquag, NY) finished fifth, seventh, and eighth in the 800 to help secure the third place finish.

In addition to their work on the track, the Red Foxes also led the MAAC with 19 All-Academic Team selections. Members of the team honored for their academic success are: Valerie Capullo, Lisa D'Aniello, Andrea DiTrani, Sarah Domermuth, Sheila Driscoll, Catherine Fargione, Cheryl Fil, Mackenzie Klump, Lauren LeMonie, Kerri Mannino, Christine McDevitt, Bernice Patten, Christine Peltier, Lindsay Rappleyea, Megan Schlittler, Donna Stallman, Denise Tumulty, Rachel Watson and Kristine Williams. To be eligible for the All-Academic Team a student athlete must have completed two semesters as her institution and maintain a grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
