NORTHRIDGE, CALIF. - The Marist Water Polo team closed out its west coast swing by splitting a pair of game on Tuesday, falling to Cal State Northridge 9-4 and then beating Occidental 13-5. Sophomore Kari Weston (Chino Hills, Calif.) totaled a pair of goals and three assists in the two games and Elizabeth Davis totaled 10 saves for the Red Foxes.
Marist had four different goal scorers against Northridge with Maggie Hatcher (Evanston, Ill.), Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.), Emily St. Omer Roy (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Samantha Swartz (Harleysville, Pa.) all finding the back of the net. Hatcher, Weston and Kaitlin McMurray (Dexter, Mich.) posted assists in the game and McCahill drew three ejections.
Davis got the start in net and made six saves and added a steal and classmate and fellow captain Katy Zweifel (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) came on the in the second to make six stops and collect two steals.
Marist rebounded nicely in game two using a balanced scoring attack that featured nine different goal scorers in the 13-5 triumph. Marist opened a 6-0 lead through the first quarter, as it won its 11th game of the season.
Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Hatcher, Weston and McChaill all tallied twice, with Weston adding a pair of helpers in the win. Freshman Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.) also had a solid effort against Occidental scoring a goal and drawing three ejections.
David played a solid all around game in the win, making four saves in goal and recording two assists in the win. Zweifel stopped six shots.
At 11-12 overall on the season, Marist will be off until March 25 when it opens its home schedule against Connecticut College and Hartwick. Game times in the McCann Natatorium are scheduled for 12:30 and 4:30 p.m.
