NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Marist Softball team dropped a pair of games to Yale on Sunday afternoon, losing 6-2 and 7-1. Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.) connected on her sixth home run of the season in game one and added a double in the second game for the Foxes. Green also drove in two runs in the first contest and now leads the team with 15 RBI on the season.

Marist continued to get off a hot start, plating two runs in the top of the first in game one on the strength of Green's long ball. Green went 1-3 in the game with run scored and the 2 driven in.

That would be all the offense the Foxes could muster off of Yale starter Rebecca Wojciak, who worked the complete game allowing five hits and just the two runs. She struck out five on the afternoon in the Bulldog win.

Megan Rigos (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also worked a compete game, allowing six hits and striking out seven. The big blow for Yale was a two run double by Katie Edwards in the fifth inning.

Alison Catenacci (Medford, Mass.) continued to swing a hot bat for the Foxes, going 2-3 in the contest.

In game two, Green was one of two Marist hitters with multiple hits, going 2-4 in the contest. Pamela de la Llave (West Orange, N.J.) was 2-3 in the contest for the Foxes and joined Green and Melissa Giordano (Stamford, Conn.) who all had doubles in the game. Giordnao drove in the lone Marist run in the fifth inning of the game.

Yale had three players collect at least two hits, with Ashley Sloan going 4-4 with two runs scored and another driven in. Deanna DiBernardi improved to 2-1 on the season working five innings and allowing just the one run.

Marist sophomore Caitlin Carpentier (Andover, Mass.) took the loss, allowing three runs in four innings. She fanned four Bulldog batters and walked just one.

The Red Foxes fall to 5-17 and will be back in action on March 27 then they travel to Binghamton. Marist will open its home schedule the following day when it hosts Central Connecticut State.
