JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Marist Softball team dropped a pair of games to MAAC foe Saint Peter's on Sunday afternoon, 3-1 and 8-0. Annie Castellano (Hauppauge, N.Y.) connected on her second home run of the season for the Foxes lone run in game one and Pamela de la Llave (West Orange, N.J.) extended her hitting streak to nine games with a hit in each game of the doubleheader.

Castellano gave the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead in game one, with her solo blast in the top half of the fourth inning. The long ball accounted for the only run that Marist would score on the afternoon. Marist out hit the Peahens in the contest 5-2, but left seven runners on base, opposed to just one by Saint Peter's.

The Peahens went on to score three runs in the home half of the fourth, with all of them being unearned. Saint Peter's scored by getting two hits, a walk and a two-out error.

Megan Rigos (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took the loss, giving up just two hits and not allowing an earned run. She struck out three batters against just one walk.

The Foxes were not able to push anything across in the backend of the twinbill, scratching out just four hits in the game. With a double in the fifth inning, de la Llave ran her hitting streak to nine games. She needs a hit in one more game to tie the season high streak of 10 games, set by Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.).

Saint Peter's got all the run support they would need in the bottom of the first inning, on an RBI double by Julie Saporito. The Peahens put the game away with five runs in the third inning, keyed by a grand slam by Michelle Casares. Saint Peter's added its final two runs in the bottom of the fifth off a two-run home run by Tricia Reingle.

Caitlin Carpentier (Andove, Mass.) took the loss for the Foxes, going 2.2 innings and allowing six runs on seven hits. She falls to 3-7 on the season with the loss.

At 8-20 on the season and 1-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the Foxes will host Albany on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt at the Softball Park at Gartland Athletic Field. This will be a single game only with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
