POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-The Marist women's water polo squad picked up a pair of victories Saturday at the McCann Natatorium by a score of 11-2 over Iona and 8-7 over Wagner. The Red Foxes improved to 17-13 overall and 4-0 in the MAAC Water Polo League.
Marist got three goals from sophomore Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) against the Gaels, while freshmen Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Ca.) and Samantha Swartz (Harleysville, Pa.) had two apiece. Sophomore Kristina Nickle (Lake Ft. Worth, Fla.), sophomore Julie Wade (Whittier, Ca.) and freshman Rachel Sunday (Carlisle, Pa.) all had one each. Junior Elizabeth Davis (Albuquerque, N.M.) picked up in the win in goal. Iona got one goal each from Stephanie Klocke and Amanda Brucia.
Against Wagner, Marist rallied from a 5-2 halftime deficit to take the victory. Wade had three tallies to lead the way in this game, while Rampton, McCahill, Swartz, freshman Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Ca.) and junior Maggie Hatcher (Evanston, Ill.) all had one apiece. Rampton's goal with 2:09 remaining sealed the come-from-behind victory. Junior goalie Katy Zweifel (San Luis Obispo, Ca.) came on in the second half to get the win. Wagner was led by four goals from Billy Hoelck.
Marist will be back in action Sunday in Loudonville, N.Y. against MAAC foes Siena (9 a.m.) and Villanova (3 p.m.).
