Red Foxes Announce Hiring of Megan Orr

Oct. 23, 2008

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - On Thursday, Oct. 23, the Marist Athletics department announced the hiring of women's lacrosse assistant coach Megan Orr. Her hiring completes the coaching staff for the Red Foxes after head coach Laura Campbell was added in August 2008.

Orr has coached at a number of places prior to her arrival in the Hudson Valley. She was a member of the coaching staff at Curry College in Milton, Mass. during the Colonels' fall season. Curry is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Prior to her stint at Curry she coached pre-season winter clinics with Full Tilt Lacrosse in Revere, Mass. Additionally, she has worked with two Connecticut club teams, the Northern Stars and the Nor-easter Lacrosse, where she had the opportunity to coach with Marist's head coach Campbell.

During her four-year playing career at the College of the Holy Cross, she was a three-time captain, three-time Patriot League Goalie of the Year, three-time First Team All-Conference, and IWCLA Northeast Region Second team in her sophomore through senior seasons. Orr also maintained a save percentage that ranked in the top four in the NCAA from 2005-2007, and holds the Crusaders record for most saves in a career. Also, Holy Cross won their conference title, propelling the team to the NCAA Tournament in 2006 and 2007.

Orr graduated from The College of the Holy Cross in 2007 with a BA in Anthropology.

Marist will open the 2009 season on Feb. 21, 2009 when the Red Foxes travel to New Haven, Conn. to face Yale.
