DOVER, Del.- The Marist softball team fell 4-1 to Drexel on Sunday afternoon. Drexel scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie. Katrina Gaudier pitched a complete game, two-hitter for the Dragons. In the last two games of the tournament, Marist (6-10) was held to six hits.
With the game tied 1-1 going into the sixth inning, senior Amanda Hastings hit a solo home run to put Drexel up 2-1. They went on to plate two more insurance runs to make the final.
Caitlin Carpentier (Andover, Mass.) started the game for Marist. She went three innings and gave up two hits and a run. Senior Megan Rigos came on in relief and took the loss. She gave up three runs in her four innings. Two were earned. The loss drops Rigos' record to 4-5.
Pamela de la Llave (West Orange, N.J.) and Mary Beth Pomes (Milford, Pa.) had the two Marist hits. De la Llave scored the lone Marist run.
Melissa Giordano had her eleven game hitting streak snapped in the loss.
