Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.- The Marist softball team dominated Iona in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Rice Oval in New Rochelle, N.Y. Marist won the first game 17-0 and took the second game 8-0. The Red Foxes swept a pair of doubleheaders this weekend and now stands at 4-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Marist (17-22, 4-3 MAAC) scored early and often in game one. They scored nine runs in the first inning, five in the second, and tacked on three more in the fifth. Senior Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.) led the Red Foxes at the plate. Catenacci went 4-for-4 with three RBI's and a run scored, and Green went 4-for-5 with four runs batted in. Pamela de la Llave also had a big opener as she went 3-for-4 with four RBI's.

Junior Lindsey Kinel (East Hartford, Conn.), freshman Kate Malloy (Fair Haven, N.J.), and junior Melissa Giordano all had two hits.

Mary Beth Pomes (Milford, Pa.) went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI's, and Alanna Woody (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) and Annie Castellano (Hauppauge, N.Y.) had a hit apiece. Every Marist starter had at least one hit in the game, and freshman Christina Rosano (Great River, N.Y.) recorded her first career hit in the top of the fifth.

Megan Rigos (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was fantastic on the mound for Marist. The senior went all five innings and gave up only one hit. She walked three and struck out six. She is now 12-10 on the year.

Becky Riccitelli started for Iona and took the loss.

Marist rolled in game two as well but did not get on the board until the second.

In the first inning, Giordano led off with a single, and Green walked with one out to put runners on first and second, but they could not capitalize.

Malloy led off the Marist second with a double and was driven in by Pomes for the first run of the game. The Red Foxes went on to score three unearned runs in the inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Alanna Woody led off the Marist fourth and was hit by a pitch. Pomes then reached on an error, and both runners scored on a de la Llave double. After an out, Castellano doubled to plate de la Llave, and the Red Foxes held a 7-0 lead. In the fifth they tacked on one more run for the final margin.

Caitlin Carpentier got her second win in as many days. The junior went all five innings and only allowed two hits.

De la Llave led the Marist bats. The senior went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and a stolen base. Giordano, Castellano, Malloy, McCallion Campbell (Port Jervis, N.Y.), Woody, and Pomes all had one hit in game two. Woody scored three runs as well.

The Red Foxes will return to the diamond on Wednesday when they visit Fordham in a non-league twinbill.
