POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist softball team was swept in a doubleheader by Niagara on Saturday afternoon at the Softball Park at Gartland Athletic Field. The Red Foxes dropped the opener 10-4 and fell 5-1 in the night cap. Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.) had two hits and two RBI's in the first game, and Pamela de la Llave (West Orange, N.J.) homered in the game two loss.

Game one was all Niagara. The Purple Eagles scored three runs in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, four in the sixth, and one more in the seventh.

Megan Rigos (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started for the Red Foxes and took the loss. She was charged with eight earned runs in her seven innings of work. She is now 13-11 on the year.

The Red Foxes were able to cut a 4-0 lead in half in their fourth. Lindsey Kinel (East Hartford, Conn.) ripped a one out double and was followed by Alanna Woody (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) who singled. Woody was caught stealing for the second out, but junior Mary Beth Pomes (Milford, Pa.) delivered a two out RBI single. Melissa Giordano (Stamford, Conn.) then tripled in Pomes for the second Marist run.

Alison Catenacci (Medfield, Mass.), Woody, and Green all had two hits for Marist.

Five different Purple Eagles had two hits. Jenna Baker and Kristin Sito each went deep for Niagara (23-19, 9-3 MAAC).

In game two, Marist loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the first but could not score.

De la Llave's home run came in the bottom of the third and gave the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.

The lead would hold until the top of the fifth. Niagara scored twice in the frame and then tacked on three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Giordano and Woody had a hit apiece, and de la Llave had two hits.

Teresa Healy had two hits and three RBI's for Niagara.

Caitlin Carpentier (Andover, Mass.) started and took the loss. She went the first 4.1 innings and was charged with two earned runs.

Brooke Viola got the win on the mound for Niagara. She went the distance allowing only four hits.

The Red Foxes will look to get back in the win column tomorrow in a doubleheader with Canisius.
