NEW YORK - The Marist College men's cross country team completed its season with a sixth-place finish out of 13 teams in the Championship Division of the 101st annual IC4A Championships, held Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Red Foxes had 153 points, trailing fifth-place Columbia by just three points.
Sophomores Matthew Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) and William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.) earned IC4A Championship Division All-East honors with their personal-best finishes on the 5-mile course. Flint was 12th overall in 25:48.5. Griffin was 23rd overall in 26:07.7.
Rounding out the scoring pack were sophomore Curtis Jensen (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.), who was 27th in a personal-best time of 26:12.6; junior Timothy Keegan (Huntington, N.Y.), who was 39th in 26:26.2; and senior captain Conor Shelley (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), who closed out his record-breaking and stellar career with a 52nd-place showing of 26:35.1.
The Red Foxes were without the services of two varsity runners - sophomore Adam Vess (Cromwell, Conn.) and freshman Arquimedes DelaCruz (Wantagh, N.Y.) - who sat out due to season-ending injuries. Marist was third at this meet in 2008.
The IC4A meet concludes the cross country season for the program.
