BALTIMORE, MD. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team compiled a 2-1 record at the H20unds Invitational at Loyola University's Mangione Aquatic Center. The Red Foxes prevailed over Loyola 248-120, Iona 245-115, but came up short against Delaware, as they fell 266-102. Freshman Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) won Marist's lone event on Saturday.
Conard claimed first place in the 200-yd. backstroke with a time of 2:06.36. Sophomore Allison Kreho (Shelton, Conn.) came in fourth place with a time of 2:08.89.
In the 200-yd. breaststroke, the Red Foxes had two in the top-four spots. Freshman Chelsea Unger (Marlboro, N.J.) finished second with a time of 2:27.02, while classmate Katie Larkin (Huntington, N.Y.) touched with a time of 2:29.12.
Marist finished second in each of the relays that were raced on Saturday. The foursome of Conard, Unger, Lyndsay Martin (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Piggot (Staatsburg, N.Y.) swam to a time of 1:39.94 in the 200-yd. medley relay. In the 400-yd. freestyle relay team of Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.), Martin, Unger and Conard finished as runner-ups with a time of 3:36.75.
Marist will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m., as it travels to Lehigh for the first of two consecutive road dual meets.
