Red Foxes Beat George Washington, Lose To Princeton At Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Marist water polo team moved to 3-4 on Saturday as it split games with Princeton and George Washington at the Princeton Invitational. The Red Foxes fell 10-9 to the host Tigers and beat the Colonials 10-8 with Kristen Barnett (Houston, Texas) scoring four goals in the win.

Marist led 4-1 after the first quarter against Princeton. Each team scored three goals in the second to give the Red Foxes a 7-4 lead at the half. The Tigers, though, came back with three goals in the third and fourth quarter to outscore Marist 6-2 in the second half for a 10-9 win. Sophomore Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) had a pair of tallies. Rachel Sunday (Carlisle, Pa.) had a pair of assists to lead the team. Jessica Getchius (Simi Valley, Calif.) had eight saves in goal and a team-high two steals.

In their second game of the day, the Red Foxes took a 3-2 lead in the first quarter and shutout George Washington 3-0 in the second to take a 6-2 halftime lead. The Colonials came back in the third quarter, outscoring Marist 4-1 to get within a goal at 7-6. The Red Foxes pulled away in the fourth with three goals for a 10-8 win. Barnett led Marist with four goals in the game with Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.) adding a pair of goals. Rampton, Pauli, and Emily St. Omer Roy (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) each had two assists. Getchius and Madison Weber (Walnut Creek, Calif.) each had four saves in the win.

Marist has two more games in the Princeton Invitational tomorrow. The Red Foxes will take on Bucknell at 10:50 a.m. and Maryland at 4:40 p.m.
