Red Foxes Falter In Loss To Costal Carolina

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Despite a win over Vermont on Friday morning, the Marist softball team stumbled in an 11-0 loss to Coastal Carolina (2-8) on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Kate Malloy (Fair Haven, N.J.) had the Red Foxes' lone hit in the game.

The Chanticleers sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning as they scored five first inning runs. Costal Carolina added one run in the second and fourth innings before they scored four in the top half of the fifth.

Freshman Caitlin Schell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) took the loss for Marist. She went 1.1 innings and gave up six runs, all earned on five hits and seven walks.

Marist (1-1) will return to action Saturday, for a rematch with Coastal Carolina. The first pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the JU Softball Complex.
