Final Stats
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - The Marist softball team suffered their second consecutive loss on Saturday morning to Coastal Carolina at the Jacksonville Tournament. Senior pitcher Caitlin Carpentier (Andover, Mass.) took the loss for the Red Foxes, her first of the season. The final score was 8-0.
Carpentier threw all six innings for Marist and surrendered eight runs and 13 hits to the Chanticleers offense; however, she was able to strike out six batters, including two in the third inning.
Coastal Carolina (4-9) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the top of the first. The Chants strung together four consecutive hits, three doubles and a single, to plate their first four runs.
Senior Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.) had two base hits in the fourth and sixth innings from the clean-up spot in the batting order. Sophomore Heather Young (Saugerties, N.Y.) had Marist's other hit in the morning game.
Marist (1-2) will take on the host Jacksonville Dolphins. The Dolphins have not allowed a run in the tournament thus far as they defeated Coastal Carolina, 3-0, and Vermont, 4-0, on Friday.
