BALTIMORE, MD. - On day two of the Sixth Annual Dawg Pound Classic, the Marist softball team dropped their second contest of the day to Seton Hall, a 9-0 decision in five innings. Freshman Jessica Green (Manassas, Va.) combined to pitch the five innings in the circle for Marist.
Freshman designated player Megan Lamoureux (Woonsocket, R.I.) had two singles to center field in the second and fourth innings respectively. She was stranded at first base on both occasions.
Seton Hall jumped out of the gate quickly in the top of the first, as the Pirates sent seven batters to the plate and scored three runs on Schell. After the Red Foxes' defense held the Pirates scoreless in the second inning they added insurance runs in the third and fourth innings to increase their lead to 5-0.
The final blow came in the top half of the fifth, when Seton Hall added four runs to go up 9-0, the final margin of victory.
The Red Foxes will continue play on Sunday morning against Fairleigh Dickinson. First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
