ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Marist water polo team went out of conference Wednesday and dropped a 10-6 decision at #13 Hartwick on Wednesday night. The Red Foxes are now 12-11 on the season. Kristen Barnett (Houston, Texas) and Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) each had a pair of goals for Marist.
Hartwick dominated the game from the start, taking a 4-2 lead after the first quarter. The Hawks then added three more tallies in the second quarter to go ahead 7-3 at halftime. Marist controlled the third quarter, outscoring Hartwick 2-1 but still trailed 8-5. Hartwick added two more goals in the fourth for the 10-6 win.
Juniors Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.) each had a goal on Wednesday night. Rampton and Barnett each had an assist with Jessica Getchius (Simi Valley, Calif.) had 16 saves in goal and led the Marist defense with five steals.
The Red Foxes resume MAAC Water Polo League play on Saturday, April 11 at Villanova. Marist will take on Wagner at 1 p.m. before playing St. Francis (NY) at 4 p.m.
