MADISON, Conn. - The Marist men's cross country team took second place at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships on Friday afternoon, which was held at Hammonassett State Park. The Red Foxes finished second for the sixth consecutive year while totaling their second-lowest point total (53) in their MAAC Championships history. The only team Marist finished behind was nationally-ranked Iona.

Junior Matthew Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) was the top overall finisher for the Red Foxes, finishing with a time of 24:50.5, giving him seventh overall in the race. Junior William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.) placed right behind Flint, earning eighth overall with a time of 24:52.7. Sophomore Arquimedes DelaCruz (Wantagh, N.Y.) placed 12th overall in 25:13. By virtue of finishing in the top 15, Flint, Griffin and DelaCruz earned All-MAAC honors

Freshman Nick Webster (Latham, N.Y.) rounded out Marist's scoring finishers with a 20th place overall finish in a time of 25:47.1.

The only time the Red Foxes tallied a better total than 53 points in a MAAC meet occurred in 2006, when Marist had 52 points.

The Marist men will return to action on Nov. 13, returning to Hammonasset State Park to compete in the NCAA Regional.
