BALTIMORE, MD. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team improved to 4-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Saturday after it won three dual meets at the H2Ounds Invitational hosted by Loyola University Maryland on Saturday. The Red Foxes defeated Iona 257-113, Loyola 248-122 and Saint Peter's 304-54 at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
On Saturday, Marist took the top two places in three events, two of which they owned the top three places in the results. The Red Foxes had the top three places in the 200-yd. butterfly and the 3-meter diving event. Marist swimmers took the first and second in the 200-yd. backstroke.
Senior Jenna Finn (North Easton, Mass.) earned her first collegiate victory in 3-meter diving. She finished with a score of 213.70. She was followed up by sophomore Chelaine Eliazar (Honolulu, Hawaii) and freshman Laren Weiner (Feeding Hills, Mass.) who came in second and third places respectively. Eliazar totaled 206.85 points, while Weiner scored 171.55 points.
In the 200-yd. butterfly Marist was paced by freshman Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.) who came in first with a time of 2:09.97. Junior Leanna Brittis (Bluffton, S.C.) touched in second place with a time of 2:11.27. Classmate Amanda Letchko (Newton, N.J.) finished third place with a time of 2:11.40.
Junior Sarah Wagner (Rockaway, N.J.) took first and second place respectively in the 200-yd. backstroke. Kreho finished with a time of 2:06.69 and Wagner's time was 2:07.18.
In the 200-yd. breaststroke, sophomore Katie Larkin (Huntington, N.Y.) placed first with a time of 2:24.57.
The Red Foxes closed the meet with a win in the 400-yd. freestyle relay behind a time of 3:34.10 time from the foursome of junior Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.), freshmen Bonnie Orr (Fresno, Calif.) and Maddie Arciello (Missoula, Mont.) and sophomore Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.).
Marist returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. when it hosts Lehigh in a dual meet. The event will be held at the McCann Natatorium.
