LEWISBURG, PA. - The Marist water polo team split its two games at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday, falling to the Indiana Hoosiers 9-3 before a 12-5 win over the Gannon Golden Knights. The Red Foxes are now 2-5 on the season. Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Agnes Konopka (Simi Valley, Calif.) each had three goals in Marist's win over Gannon.
After leading 2-1 after the first quarter against Gannon, the Red Foxes put in six goals in the second quarter to take an 8-2 halftime lead. Marist scored two goals apiece in the third and fourth quarters for the 12-5 win. Rachel Sunday (Carlisle, Pa.) scored two goals in the game, while Emily St. Omer Roy (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Samantha Swartz (Harleysville, Pa.), Kaitlin McMurray (Dexter, Mich.), and Jessica Getchius (Simi Valley, Calif.) made 11 saves.
In the first game of the day, Marist fell behind 4-1 after the first quarter to the Hoosiers. Indiana then scored three goals in the second quarter to take a 7-2 halftime lead. Swartz scored two goals for the Red Foxes, with St. Omer Roy adding the third. Sunday and Robyn Crabtree (Cutler Bay, Fla.) each had two steals while Getchius made six saves.
Marist will conclude play in the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday with an 11 a.m. game against Bucknell.
