SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The Marist water polo team wrapped up play in the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State on Sunday with losses to #3 California and UC San Diego. Senior Samantha Swartz (Harleysville, Pa.) led the Red Foxes with three goals on the day. Marist is now 4-11 on the season.

The Red Foxes opened the day with an 11-0 loss to the third-ranked California Golden Bears. Cal scored three goals in the first, third, and fourth quarters. Senior goalie Jessica Getchius (Simi Valley, Calif.) had eight saves in the game and a team-high two steals. Marist then took on the Tritons of UC San Diego in its second game on Sunday. After a 1-1 first quarter, UC San Diego outscored the Red Foxes 4-3 to take a 5-4 halftime lead. The Tritons then scored four more goals in the third to take a 9-5 lead, and would win by that score. Swartz had three goals for Marist, with Rachel Sunday (Carlisle, Pa.) and Rosie Pauli (Sacramento, Calif.) each scoring one goal. Getchius made nine saves with two steals.

Marist wraps up its current California trip Monday with games against Colorado State and California Baptist.
