KISSIMMEE, FLA. - The Marist softball team lost its fifth straight games on Monday morning, as the Red Foxes fell to fellow Hudson River Valley foe Army during the 2010 Rebel Spring Games. Four different players accounted for the Marist offense in the game. The final score of the contest was 6-1 in favor of the Black Knights.
The Red Foxes offensive production was provided by sophomore clean-up batter Kate Malloy (Fair Haven, N.J.) and freshmen Lauren Napoli (Guilderland, N.Y.). Napoli scored Marist's lone run in the contest on an RBI ground out by sophomore Megan Lamoureux (Woonsocket, R.I.) in the fifth inning.
Army opened the scoring in the third inning as they etched three runs in the frame. Alex Reynolds hit a two RBI single which scored Jennae Tomlinson and Rachael Duval. Reynolds came around to score the final run of the inning as Reynolds scored on a Tiffany Held infield hit.
The Black Knights scored two runs in the fifth and an additional run in the sixth for insurance.
Freshman Danielle Koltz (Chenango Valley, N.Y.) suffered her second straight loss to fall to 1-2 on the season. Shawna Bleyl got her first win in the circle for Army to move to 1-1 on the year.
