POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team won each of the top three singles matches on Sunday, but came up short as the Red Foxes fell to Albany, 4-3 at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion on the campus of Marist College. Freshmen Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) each won their singles and doubles matches on the day.

Raynor bested Livia Gherman in three sets 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 at first singles, while Sun beat Susan Ma 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 in the third singles matchup. The pair from Marist also won its first doubles contest over Laine Mackey and Gherman 8-3.

At second singles sophomore Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.) won in straight sets over Mackey, 6-1, 6-4.

The match came down to the fifth singles match between junior Jeannie Lukin and Sarah Iannone. Lukin dropped the match 5-7, 7-6 (4), 7-5.

Marist will return to action on Wednesday, March 24 as it travels to Hempstead, N.Y. for a dual match with Hofstra. First serves are scheduled for 2 p.m.
