Final Stats
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In their final home contest of the 2010-2011 season, the Marist women's swimming and diving team had a dual meet with the Southern Connecticut State University Owls, Saturday afternoon at the McCann Natatorium.  After the presentations associated with Senior Day wrapped up, the women headed to the pool and got to business.  They came out fast and won the day's first three events.  Over the course of the meet, they managed to pick up eight victories, seven through individuals and one in a relay event.  When the meet was over, the Red Foxes were victorious by a score of 166-129.
Freshman Maddie Arciello (Missoula, Mont.) led the way for Marist at today's event with 22 individual points from her two victories and one second place finish.  After coming in runner-up to junior Michelle Fountain's (Sayville, N.Y) time of 1:56.62 in the 200-yd. freestyle, Arciello picked up wins in the 50- and 100-yd. freestyle events.  She posted a time of 25.06 in the 50-yd and a 54.79 in the 100-yd.  Arciello was also a member of the victorious 200-yd. medley relay team.
Sophomore Jenna Finn (North Easton, Mass.) and to win with a 218.02 point total. In the 3-meter board, she battled with Southern Connecticut's Amanda Burden and claimed the top spot with a 242.25 score, a mere 8.5 points clear of second.
Other winners for the Red Foxes included; sophomore Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y), freshman Bonnie Orr (Fresno, Calif.), junior Allison Kreho (Shelton, Conn.) and freshman Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.).
Conard took victory in the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 4:59.59, more than 17 seconds ahead of her teammate, Fountain.  In the closest race of the day, Conard was inched out by .04 seconds in the 200-yd. butterfly to Southern Connecticut's Amanda Thomas. She was also a member of the 200-yd. medley relay team.
Orr was victorious in the third event of the day, the 1650-yd. freestyle with a time of 18:19.75.  Orr and her second place finishing teammate, freshman Kim Kaller (New Providence, N.J.) completed the race more than 35 seconds ahead of the field.
Miles, a third member of the 200-yd. medley relay team, secured victory individually in the 100-yd. butterfly event.  She held off her teammate, Orr to win with a time of 59.89.
Kreho picked up a win in the 200-yd. backstroke with a time of 2:09.34.  She was challenged in this race by her teammates, freshman Sarah Wagner (Rockaway, N.J.) and junior Amanda Letchko (Newton, N.J.), who finished second and third respectively.
The Red Foxes will return to action next Saturday, January 22 at 12 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.  Marist will take on the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in a dual meet.
Prior to the event the three seniors of the Class of 2011 were honored in a presentation highlighting their efforts over their four years at Marist College.
Here's a little bit more about the seniors, whom played important roles in helping the Red Foxes capture the 2008 and 2010 MAAC Championships, as well as, the 2010 ECAC Championship...
Jenna Finn of North Easton, Massachusetts. Jenna has been a successful member of the women's diving program during her four years.  A two-time participant at the MAAC Championships, she had her best performance at the 3-meter event in 2009 with a 5th place finish.  At the H20unds Invitational earlier this season, she captured her first collegiate victory and was subsequently named MAAC Diver of the Week.  Jenna has also found success in the classroom as she has been named to the All-MAAC Academic Team twice.
Darrell Ann Smith of Westfield, New Jersey. Darrell Ann has been an important member of the women's swimming program during her four years.  A two-time representative for the Red Foxes at the MAAC Championships, she has swum in five individual events at the championships.  In all five instances, Darrell Ann earned top 16 finishes.  A high achiever in her studies, Darrell Ann has twice been named to the All-MAAC Academic Team.
Megan Flood of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts.  Megan has been a versatile swimmer for the women's swimming program during her four years.  A butterfly and backstroke specialist, she has represented the Red Foxes at three MAAC Championships and participated in 10 individual and relay events.  Of those events, eight times, Megan finished in the top 10, with a career best 5th place finish in both the 2010 100- and 200-yard backstroke events.  For her achievements in the classroom, Megan has been named to the All-MAAC Academic Team twice.
