Final Stats
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team concluded the regular season portion of their schedule with victory in their matchup at Seton Hall. Facing a Pirates squad, who came into the day with an 8-2 record, the Red Foxes came out fast, winning the first four events. Freshman Bonnie Orr and Maddie Arciello, sophomore Kate Conard and junior Allison Kreho led the team with two race wins a piece. As a result of their 10 combined victories, Marist defeated Seton Hall by a score of 168-132.
The 200-yd. medley relay team of Conard (East Setauket, N.Y), Katie Larkin (Huntington, N.Y), Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.) and Arciello started off the winning, finishing with a time of 1:48.99.
Orr (Fresno, Calif.) started off the string of individual wins for the Red Foxes as she was victorious in the third event, 1000-yd. freestyle, with a time of 10:37.91. With only one male event in between to rest up, Orr came out in the next female event, the 200-yd. freestyle and took victory again. She finished ahead of her teammate Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.) with a time of 1:57.71. Later on in the event, Orr also swam in the 500-yd. freestyle where she finished second with a 5:15.72 time, as well as, the third leg of the victorious 400-yd. freestyle relay team.
Arciello (Missoula, Mont.) collected two victories for the Red Foxes in the freestyle sprints, the 50- and 100- yd events. In the 50-yd. she was victorious with a time of 24.42, while in the 100-yd. her time of 53.04 placed her in first, ahead of her teammate Fountain. Like Orr, she was also a member of the 400-yd. freestyle relay team.
Kreho (Shelton, Conn.) swept both backstroke events for Marist at the meet. In the 100-yd. race, she successfully held off teammate Sarah Wagner (Rockaway, N.J.) by .15 seconds to win with a time of 1:00.44. In the 200-yd. backstroke, Kreho placed first with a time of 2:08.02.
Conard was the fourth member of the squad to pick up two victories. In event 23, the 500-yd. freestyle, she was victorious by over four seconds, with a time of 5:00.52. After a short break, she was back to winning, this time taking the final individual race, the 200-yd. IM, finishing in 2:09.43.
The Red Foxes picked up their tenth and final victory of the day in event 31, the 400-yd. free relay. The team of Arciello, Miles, Orr and Fountain finished with a time of 3:39.83, more than five seconds ahead of second place.
The Red Foxes will have the next two weekends off before starting postseason competition at the MAAC Championships on Thursday, February 17 in Buffalo, N.Y.
