NEW YORK, N.Y. The Marist men's indoor track and field team competed at its first event of the new year on Friday, the Metro Coaches Invitational, hosted at the New York City Armory. Marist, who faced competition from teams from throughout the Tri-State and Mid-Atlantic regions, were led by freshman Jesse Aprile, who finished eighth in the triple jump and 15th in the long jump. His triple jump of 12.71 meters (41 feet, 9.5 inches) and long jump of 6.37 meters (20 feet, 10.75 inches) were both personal-best distances.
Junior Matt Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Red Foxes in track events leading Marist with a 800-meter run of 1:58.32, good for 10th best at the event.
The Red Foxes will return to the New York City Armory next Friday, January 14, for the NYC Gotham Cup.
