POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - After Monday's match with Rider was postponed due to inclement weather, the Marist women's tennis team looked anxious to play its first home and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) match of the season. The Red Foxes beat the Broncs 7-0 on Wednesday at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion to improve their record to 6-6 in dual match play.
Each Marist doubles team defeated its opponent 8-1. Sophomore Kayla O'Donovan (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and senior Retta Byron (Scottsdale, Ariz.) bested Kim Leder and Jaclyn Giameo at third doubles.
In singles, Raynor defeated Roche 6-2, 6-2 in the number one spot, McCarthy outdid Garbaravage 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, and Sun beat White, 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. At fourth singles, Campbell defeated Leder 6-1, 6-0, while Jeannie Lukin (Kinderhook, N.Y.) bested Manforti, 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles, and O'Donovan beat Jaclyn Giameo 6-0, 6-1 in the number six spot.
The Red Foxes will return to action on the road tomorrow against MAAC foe Fairfield. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
