LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Marist senior Conor Shelley (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) placed third in the 5,000 meters, and freshman Jesse Aprile (Yorktown, N.Y.) set the school record in the 200-meter dash on the final day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, held at Rider University.

Shelley posted a time of 14:59.93 as he one of four Red Foxes who placed in the top nine in the event. Sophomore Zak Smetana (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and Patrick Duggan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) took seventh and ninth, respectively.

Aprile's record time of 22.78 seconds earned him sixth place in the 200. He was also part of a 4 X 100 relay team which also included sophomore Darren Bushey (Pittsfield, Mass.), junior Michael McCloskey (Latham, N.Y.) and freshman Connor Dodge (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) which placed third in a time of 43.40, which missed a school record by seven-hundredths of a second.

Junior William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.) took fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 3:55.76, a personal best. In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Michael Clifford (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) finished seventh in 56.36, just .03 off a school record. The 4 X 400-meter relay team of sophomore Philip Krupka (Allentown, Pa.), sophomore Chris Vanzetta (Latham, N.Y.), Dodge, and freshman Chris Coscio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.)

As a team, the Red Foxes placed fifth with 58 points.
