NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Marist men's tennis team fell to a powerful Columbia squad Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-0.
Senior Matt Himmelsbach (Longmeadow, Mass.), playing at the second singles position, forced his opponent to a third set 7-6, 6-7, 6-1. Himmelsbach also paired with Joris Van Eck (Ospel, The Netherlands) to win an exciting doubles match, 9-8 (10-5). However, Columbia won the other two doubles matches to take the point.
The Red Foxes (2-1, 1-0 MAAC) will take a couple of weeks off before returning to action in early March at the Yale Invitational March 3-4. They will then make a spring break trip with dual matches in Texas and Louisiana before resuming MAAC play.
