Marist Women's Basketball Signs Three Players to National Letters of Intent

Marist head women's basketball coach Brian Giorgis has announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent. Morgan Bartner, Maura Fitzpatrick, and Jordyn Jossart will join the Red Foxes as a true freshman for the 2015-16 season.

Morgan Bartner - 6-1 / Forward - Morristown Beard High School / Florham Park, N.J.

Bartner, a four year varsity starter, was named 2014 Star Ledger All-Area Team, 2014 All New Jersey MSG Varsity Selection, 2014 NJAC Liberty Division First Team All-Conference, and 2014 Morris County Coaches Association First Team. As a junior for Morristown Beard High School Bartner averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 4 assists per game.

Giorgis on Bartner - “Morgan's our type of post player, she can shoot the three play out on the perimeter and is physical. She'll do anything she can to get better and anything she can do to help the team. A prototypical type of Marist player.”

Maura Fitzpatrick - 5-10 / Guard - Mercy High School / Cheshire, Conn.

Fitzpatrick is a two time All-State selection (2014 First Team), named All-SCC Conference team, New Haven Register All-Area Team, All-State selection by Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) and MVP of Mercy Classic Christmas Tournament. As a four year varsity player at Mercy High School Fitzpatrick's career record is 71-10. As a junior Fitzpatrick averaged 16.4 points and 6.2 rebounds on 49 percent shooting per game.

Giorgis on Fitzpatrick – “When I first saw Maura play she was one of the most complete players that I've seen both on the offensive end and defensive end. She can score it and shoot the pull up, the thing I like about her the most is she reminded me of Leanne Ockenden with how she locks down on the defensive end.”

Jordyn Jossart - 5-9 / Point Guard - Century High School / Bismarck, N.D.

Jossart was named a two-time All-Conference player in her sophomore and junior years, achieved 2014 second team All-State her junior campaign and has played a part in three WDA Regular Season Championship runs for Century High School. A two time North Dakota Class A State Champion, Jossart has averaged 12.3 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. Jossart is also an accomplished volleyball player and track and field athlete at Century High School.

Giogis on Jossart – “Jordyn is a diamond in the rough that not a lot of people have known about or seen, she's very athletic and quick. As a point guard she might have the best three pointer of a point guard that we've had. A three sport athlete that can bring athleticism and size at the point.”

The Marist women's basketball team will play its home opener on Monday, Nov. 24, when the Red Foxes host St. John's. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are available for sale on GoRedFoxes.com. For further information, please contact the Marist Ticket Office at (845) 575-3553.
