MIAMI, Fla. – Fifth-year senior linebacker Mike Kagafas (Akron, Ohio) of the Marist football team has been chosen to play in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) National Bowl. The game will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. on the campus of Florida International University's Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium.
In his career at Marist, Kagafas had 146 career tackles, including 56 during the 2013 season which saw the Red Foxes finish atop the Pioneer Football League. He recorded 15 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and five-and-a-half sacks in his career. Kagafas started every game at linebacker the past two seasons and was named captain for the 2014 season. He was named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll in 2013.
The FCS Bowl is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of the top seniors from football programs around the country. It has gained national success in its first four years and is attended by numerous National Football League and Canadian Football League scouts consistently. It is considered the top all star weekend for non-FBS schools, and features coaches from both the NFL and the Professional Indoor Football League.
