POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Five Marist University football players were selected either First or Second Team All-Pioneer Football League on Tuesday.
Graduate right guard
Dominic Perricone and sophomore safety
Nate Robinson Jr. were named First Team All-PFL. Graduate tight end
Connor Hulstein, red-shirt sophomore linebacker
Nate Furrow, and freshman safety
Chase Hatton were named Second Team All-PFL.
Additionally, three Red Foxes were named Honorable Mention All-PFL: red-shirt junior quarterback
Sonny Mannino, red-shirt freshman wide receiver
Lance Martinez, and graduate
Tristan Shannon, who earned recognition at both all-purpose and return specialist.
Marist's two first teamers and total of five first and second teamers were both its most since 2022.
Here is a closer look at each honoree:
Dominic Perricone
- Named First Team All-PFL for the second straight year.
- Became just the second offensive lineman since Marist joined the PFL in 2009 to be named First Team All-PFL multiple times. Phede Celestin earned the honor in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
- Team captain this season.
- Four-year starter on the offensive line who started all 45 games the last four years.
- Played 791 of possible 814 snaps (97%).
Nate Robinson Jr.
- Finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is presented to the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
- In the regular season, ranked sixth in the FCS in passes defended (15 total, 1.25 per game), with 11 pass break-ups and four interceptions.
- Named FCS & PFL Defensive Player of the Week after tallying a career-high 10 tackles and two interceptions in a victory at Wagner, Sept. 13. Led a secondary that allowed just 56 yards passing in the game, the fewest allowed by Marist since 2007.
- Had four pass break-ups in victory vs. San Diego, Oct. 4. He became the first Red Fox to break up four passes in a game since 2018.
- His 15 passes defended were the most by a Red Fox in a season since 2002.
Connor Hulstein
- FCS regular season tight end rankings: first in receiving yards, second in touchdowns, fourth in receptions.
- Set Marist's single-season tight end receiving records for yards (599), yards per reception (14.3), and touchdowns (seven). Led the team with 42 receptions.
- Scored touchdowns in four straight games to start the season, and scored in three straight games to close the year.
- Had six games with at least 50 yards receiving, and two with over 90.
- Had career-high 92 receiving yards in back-to-back weeks vs. Stetson (Nov. 8) and Davidson (Nov. 15). Had a catch of over 50 yards in both games, and his 78-yard touchdown reception vs. Stetson was Marist's longest play from scrimmage this season.
Nate Furrow
- In PFL play, led the league with 11 tackles for loss and was tied for second with five sacks.
- Named PFL Defensive Player of the Week and earned Honorable Mention for FCS Defensive Player of the Week after registering eight tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks in win over San Diego, Oct. 4.
- Had sacks on San Diego's final two plays.
- It was Marist's first five-TFL performance since 2013.
- It was Marist's first three-sack game since 2015.
- Had eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and a forced fumble vs. eventual league champion Drake, Oct. 25.
- Had a five-game streak with a TFL, and a three-game streak with a sack.
- Overall, led Marist in tackles for loss (12), sacks (six), and forced fumbles (two).
Chase Hatton
- Named PFL Defensive Freshman of the Year on Monday.
- Named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List for top freshman in the FCS.
- In the regular season, tied for the FCS lead among freshmen with four total interceptions, and tied for third among freshmen with 89 total tackles.
- Earned Honorable Mention for Stats Perform FCS Freshman of the Week three times this season.
- Named PFL Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 9 after totaling career highs with 12 tackles and two interceptions plus a pass break-up and half-a-tackle for loss in a victory over Stetson.
- Sonny Mannino - In PFL play, averaged a league-best 201.9 passing yards per game, with eight touchdowns against just two interceptions. Earned Honorable Mention for the second straight year.
- Lance Martinez - Ranked 11th in the FCS in the regular season and second in the PFL in yards per reception (20.0). Had career highs of 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns in victory over San Diego, Oct. 4.
- Tristan Shannon – Exceeded 1,000 all-purpose yards for the third straight season. Previously named Second Team All-PFL as a return specialist in 2024, and Honorable Mention at both all-purpose and return specialist in 2023.
The PFL awards conclude on Wednesday with the announcement of the All-Academic Team.
