SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In its second consecutive road meet, the Marist men's swimming and diving team (6-4, 4-1) fell to Seton Hall, 158.5-141.5, on Jan. 24.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of senior Bill Drennen (Collegeville, Pa.), senior Spencer Kelley (Weston, Conn.), sophomore Ryan Murphy (New Fairfield, Conn.), and senior John Spitzer (Fairport, N.Y.) swam to a first-place time of 3:09.00 to set a new program dual meet record. The foursome clocked in at a time more than four seconds faster than the four other relay teams.
Individually, Spitzer won two freestyle events after swimming 50 yards in 21.31 seconds and 100 yards in 47.71 seconds. Senior Sean Sullivan (Huntington, N.Y.) added to the Red Foxes' point total, taking first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:47.17. Murphy finished right behind Sullivan before winning the 500-yard event in 4:40.52.
Junior Josh Dodway (Niskayuna, N.Y.) upped his NCAA Zone Qualifying score in the 1-meter dive, racking up 303.60 points to take the top spot.
The Red Foxes return home for Senior Day and the regular season finale on Jan. 31 when they face off against Binghamton at 1 p.m.
