SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Playing in their second non-conference match of the spring season the Marist women's tennis team were defeated on the road by the Albany Great Danes, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Sportime Tennis facility.
Albany picked up the doubles point against the Red Foxes with three victories. The Marist team of senior captain Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) and junior Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.J.) fell 6-1 to the Great Danes team of freshman Ana Glumac and Alba Sala.
In the second doubles match sophomore Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) and freshman Claire Schmitz (Scotia, N.Y.) dropped a match against senior Kirsten Scott and sophomore Chassidy King, 6-0 and in the third and final doubles match junior Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and junior Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) fell to the Albany team of senior Cheryl Kukkonen and sophomore Dajana Ognjenovic, 6-1.
The Great Danes swept singles play as well with Schmitz, Morlock Seitz, Carlay, Rohan and Elizabeth Brozovich (Port Huron, Mich.) all falling to Albany competition.
The Red Foxes return to action next weekend in Boston, Mass. as they take on the University of Massachusetts as they continue to tune up for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference season.
