ONEONTA, NEW YORK – The Marist water polo team (19-13, 11-1) concluded its regular season with an 11-3 loss to Hartwick on Sunday afternoon.
In a game that was treated as an opportunity for everyone to play and gain experience before the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships sophomore Nastassia McGlothlin (Mission Viejo, California) scored a team high two goals and had one steal. Sophomore Amanda Amorosa (Montreal, Quebec) added one goal with two field blocks and one steal.
The Red Foxes were unable to find the back of the net in the first half of the game, and fell behind 6-0 heading into the second half. Amorosa had the lone goal for the Red Foxes in the third quarter that ended with a score of 7-1. In the final quarter of play McGlothlin scored two goals and Hartwick scored four ending the game at 11-3.
Junior goalie Skyler Henry (San Diego, California) made seven saves and gave up three goals against in two quarters of play. Freshman goalie Jessica Hermosillo (La Mirada, California) played two quarters and made two saves with eight goals against.
The Red Foxes will return to action on Saturday, April 25 at McCann Natatorium for the semifinal of the MAAC Championships against the #4 seed Villanova. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
