POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist College learned late Friday afternoon that women's basketball player Tori Jarosz has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.
“Thank you to the NCAA for giving me this opportunity to play one more year,” Jarosz said. “Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and the entire athletics' staff who supported me. This has been a long process throughout the spring and summer, and I'm so happy to come back for one more year.”
In the 2014-15 season, Jarosz was named First Team All-MAAC, earned MAAC All-Tournament Team honors and was named Third Team All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. She set Marist's single-season record with 71 blocks last year. Jarosz also led the Red Foxes in scoring (17.1 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg), field-goal percentage (.497), free throws made (118) and free throws attempted (167).
“We're ecstatic that Tori was granted a sixth year by the NCAA,” Marist head coach Brian Giorgis said. “We're ready to move forward, and our players are extremely excited. We're ready to have Tori lead us into the 2015-16 season.”
Jarosz began her career at Vanderbilt in the 2010-11 season. She transferred to Marist in the spring of 2011. She served her NCAA-mandated year in residence during the 2011-12 season, and suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of the 2012-13 season. An injury also cost her the first 11 games of the 2013-14 season.
Marist will open the 2015-16 season at South Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 13. The Red Foxes' home opener takes place on Thursday, Nov. 19 against Delaware.
