POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's swimming and diving team fell to 4-4-1 on the season after a 160-140 loss to the Boston College Eagles on Jan. 16 in McCann Natatorium. The Eagles came into the meet ranked 32nd among Division I Mid-Major squads in the CollegeSwimming.com rankings. 

The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of freshman Daniel Knoll, freshman Miguel Madeira, junior Manuel Garcia and junior Ryan Murphy closed the gap in the final event of the meet, winning it in a time of 3:08.07.

Murphy was also an individual winner, taking the top spot in the 500- (4:42.07) and 1,000-yard (9:45.50) freestyle. He help Marist collect 29 points in all.

In the butterfly events, Garcia clocked in at the fastest time at 100 yards (51.75 seconds) and placed third at 200 yards (1:57.13). He was also a member of the Red Foxes' second place 200-yard medley relay A squad.

The freshman freestyling duo of Madeira and Knoll had top two finishes across the board. Madeira took the 200-yard event in 1:43.64 and Knoll was right behind in second place with a time of 1:44.51. Knoll also ranked second at 50 (21.54 seconds) and 100 yards (47.41 seconds).

Senior Josh Dodway took the top spot on the 3-meter board with 304.27 points and finished second at one meter after scoring 304.80 points. Sophomore Peter Gallino ended up in third on both boards with 296.46 points in the 1-meter dive and 276.37 points at three meters.

The Red Foxes will host Seton Hall at 1 p.m. Jan. 23 on Senior Day. Dodway will be the lone honoree on the men's side in the pregame ceremony.
