Licursi Places 10th in Racewalk National Championship

NEW York, New York -- Junior Kristi Licursi placed 10th overall in the Racewalk National Championship at the Millrose Games held at the Armory Track and Field Complex on Saturday.

Licursi finished with an overall time of 7:46.55, a nearly 15 second personal best.

Race walking is an event contested in all levels of the sport of track & field, from youth athletics up to and including the Olympic Games, however is not a recognized collegiate event. It involves both the endurance of the long distance runner with the attention to technique of a hurdler or shot putter. Since the event involves less impact on the body, the event continues to grow in popularity across both younger and older age groups for both its fitness and competitive aspects. While competing, athletes must keep one foot on the ground and their back leg must be locked at all times.
