POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior infielder Maureen Duddy had the 200^th hit of her career and freshman utility Claire Oberdorf had four extra-base hits in the second game as Marist swept a doubleheader from Cornell on Wednesday. Playing at home at Gartland Field for the first time this season, the Red Foxes won the first game 10-2 in five innings, and the second game by a score of 5-1.

Here is a closer look at each game:

Game One – Marist 10, Cornell 2 (five innings)

Cornell scored in the top of the first, but Marist answered in the bottom of the inning when Duddy reached on an infield single, went to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and scored on a wild pitch. The Red Foxes took the lead for good an inning later on RBI infield singles by freshman left fielder Casey Page and Duddy.

Marist then broke the game open with a six-run fourth, which included a grand slam to center field off the bat of junior catcher Rebecca Freeman. The Red Foxes ended the game an inning later by the mercy rule as sophomore Brittany Colombo delivered a pinch-hit single, which brought senior center fielder Colleen McWilliams home with the winning run.

Junior Jayne Oberdorf (3-3) went the first three innings for the win, and red-shirt junior Jessica Van Alphen went the final two innings for her second save. Meg Parker (1-4) pitched a complete game for Cornell.

Duddy, Freeman, McWilliams, Page and senior shortstop Kyrsten Van Natta all had two hits apiece. Freeman drove in four. Page had two runs scored and two driven in, while McWilliams scored twice. Left fielder Emily Weinberg went 3-for-3 with a run scored for Cornell.

Game Two – Marist 5, Cornell 1

Claire Oberdorf paced the Red Foxes by going 4-for-4 with three doubles, a triple, two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. McWilliams went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Van Natta stole two bases.

Marist grabbed an early lead with a two-run first. Oberdorf doubled, and came home on an RBI single by Van Natta, who would steal second and score on a two-out single by McWilliams. Oberdorf then led off the third with a double, and scored on another two-out single by McWilliams.

Parker belted a solo home run in the Cornell fourth to cut Marist's lead to 3-1, but the Red Foxes expanded their lead in the sixth on a two-run triple by Oberdorf. Her triple brought home Duddy – who had her 200^th career hit on a single to right in the previous at bat – and freshman center fielder Madison Lee.

Three Marist freshman pitchers – Megan Beiermeister, Brooke Peterson and Kallen Leeseberg – combined on a two-hitter. Beiermeister threw just 37 pitched in the first four innings and improved to 7-0. Peterson retired all six batters she faced in the fifth and sixth, and Leeseberg retired the side in the seventh.

Maddie Orcutt (2-6) went the distance for Cornell and struck out four.

Marist is now 19-7 overall; Cornell is 3-13. The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, when they open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play with a home doubleheader against Niagara. First pitch of game one is scheduled for noon.
