CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts - In its second dual meet in five days the Marist men's swimming and diving team (6-3, 4-1 MAAC) suffered a 213-87 road loss to Boston College.
Senior Manuel Garcia was in the top three in four swimming events. He place second in the 100-yard butterfly (52.04 seconds) and 200-yard individual medley (1:58.16). His time of 1:57.74 in the 200-yard butterfly was good enough for third place and he swam the third leg on Marist's third place 200-yard medley relay.
The lone individual winner for the Red Foxes was sophomore Miguel Madeira, who took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.86 and also anchored Marist's first place 400-yard freestyle relay team that clocked in at 2:12.13. Madeira was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:47.74.
Third place finishes from freshman Michael O'Donovan (1,000 free), junior Robert McDowell (100 back), sophomore Mark Miller (100 breast and 200 IM), junior Sam Presgraves (200 breast) and sophomore Daniel Knoll (50 free and 100 free) also highlighted the afternoon. Freshman Evan Nilsson was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:41.36) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.87).
On the diving boards freshman Raislan Aiken was second at one meter with a season-high 283.13 points. Junior Peter Gallino was third in the 1- (268.35 points) and 3-meter (262.43 points) events.
The Red Foxes will take on another top 40 team when they face Seton Hall at 1 p.m. Jan. 21.
